AboutMe
I'm a web designer and budding web developer based in Dallas, TX. I attended the Computer Career Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Columbia, MD, where I received a Master Certificate in Digital Multimedia and Web Design.
As a concert promoter in the Washington D.C. area, I began implementing what I had been learning in school to promotional materials used for concerts, events, and venues. After a couple years of hacking away myspace layouts, web pages, and concert posters I decided to take things a little more seriously and began working as a freelance graphic artist and web designer.
After moving to Dallas, TX I began working for Meritbuilder as a Web Designer, Front End Developer, and Graphic Artist. Working on such a large project spawned my immediate interest in the other side of web development, the back end. Contributing to the alpha and beta releases of the web application exposed me to new technologies like Coldfusion, MySQL, AJAX, XML, XSLT, and Subversion while allowing me to further develop my skills in Design, XHTML, CSS, and Javascript.
I design, mostly, with the latest Adobe Creative Suite (buy me CS4 if you want). I hand code all my sites using valid XHTML, CSS, and a lot of Usability, Accessibility, and Web Standards. I'm an aspiring developer, currently trying to wrap my head around PHP & MySQL, and I'm starving for more. My goal is to be a super designer/developer hybrid with x-ray vision and a sweet utility belt.
I pride myself on accessibility, usability and web standards. It’s not just about making things pretty, but also about making things work. I build clean, appealing, and functional web sites which comply with the latest web standards. Design is my life. It's something I do before going to bed, dream about while I'm sleeping, and something I can't wait to do when I wake up in the morning.
So, what do I do when I'm not designing, coding, or dreaming about designing and coding? Well, I'm a music connoisseur, a daddy, a fiance, a writer, a joker, and a friend.
AboutThisSite
Beginning with a yellow pad of paper, a pencil without an eraser, and Pink Floyd's Darkside of the Moon - this site went from conception to dot com in two weeks.
Handcoded in Adobe Dreamweaver, the site's frontend consists of XHTML, CSS, and Javascript while the backend is powered by PHP and the infamous Wordpress.
While primarily being a home for showcasing my portfolio and skillset, it'll also provide me with an opportunity to share my experiences through my blog. I'll be providing resources, tutorials, and other goodies on a weekly basis.
